Tax Tip #318

Based on POWER (Protecting Our Wallets Energy Rebate), New York is issuing one-time energy rebate checks. 

Qualifications: 

• Taxpayers must have filed a NY resident income tax return for 2024 & been a full-year resident. 
• Taxpayers who are single, MFS or HH with a 2024 NY AGI of $150,000 or less will receive $100 check. Taxpayers who are MFJ with the same AGI will receive a $200 check.
• Taxpayers who are single, MFS or HH with an income exceeding $150,000 will not receive a rebate nor will taxpayers who are MFJ with an income exceeding $300,000.
• Taxpayers who are MFJ with a NY AGI over $150,000 but less than $300,000 will receive a check for $150.

Checks will be mailed beginning September 21, 2026, and continue through December 2026. There is no direct deposit option. There is no need to apply or sign up for this rebate.
